Are your software applications ready for
multi-core architecture?

Intel Software Seminar
in München, 26. Oktober 2006
Intel is bringing its exclusive Software Seminar series to your city so you can meet and talk with Intel software application engineers who are knowledgeable about developing software for multi-core architecture.
Featured Topics
  • Multi-core architecture
  • Multi-core product roadmaps for platform and software development tools
  • Software programming models to support multi-core
  • Multi-core on Java* and Microsoft .NET*
  • Multi-core on native code
  • Software development tools for multi-core
  • Case studies

Of all new desktop, mobile, and server processor product shipments, 70 to 85 percent will be multi-core-based by the end of 2006**.

    Is your software ready?

Meet face-to-face with Intel experts, network with your peers, and discover how to develop for multi-core. Whether you're developing in Java, Microsoft .NET, or native code, come and learn how to apply software development tools from Intel and others to speed your development time and take advantage of the latest multi-core processor technologies.

All attendees will receive a free evaluation copy of multi-core-enabled software development tools for Linux* and Windows*. These tools will help you start building applications that capitalize on the coming wave of multi-core systems.

09:00-09:30 Registration and Welcome Coffee
09:30-09:45 Welcome/Overview of Multi-Core from a Developer's Perspective In this session, you will learn the basics of multi-core architecture, Intel's roadmap for multi-core processors and software development tools, operating system and ISV support for multi-core and the impact of multi-core on applications and software development activities.
09:45-11:00 Best Practices for Developing for Multi-Core In this presentation, you will learn the basics of parallelism, including multithreading and multiprocessing. You'll learn how multithreading can be used to build a more responsive application for both managed and native code. You'll learn how the use of a multithreaded application on multi-core processor architecture can lead to increased application performance. You'll also learn how to introduce threading to an application and how to detect and avoid common threading errors.
11:00-11:15 Break
11:15-12:30 Application Threading Simplified In this presentation, you will see how the Intel suite of threading tools - VTune, Thread Checker and Thread Profiler - help you build high performance multithreaded applications. You'll see a demonstration of adding and improving threaded performance to an existing application composed of both managed and native code.
12:30-13:30 Lunch
13:30-14:30 Industry Support for Multi-Core Development: Roadmaps, Technologies & Tools Hear from some of the industry's leaders in platforms and operating systems on their roadmaps and support for developing on Intel's multi-core server architecture.
14:30-15:30 Open Tech Q&A Forum Talk directly with Intel application engineers as well as representatives from our technology partners and your peers. Ask technical questions and discuss your challenges and needs in developing for multi-core.
