Release 11.0 is the first of Absoft’s high-performance, auto-parallelizing Fortran compilers to include support for OpenMP multi-core parallel programming standards for Mac OS X with Intel Xeon (Nehalem) processors. Absoft Pro Fortran v11.0 includes both 32-bit and 64-bit compilers and incorporates a new scheduler that has demonstrated performance increases of up to 10%. Auto-parallelization, auto-vectorization and SSE4.1/4.2 instructions are also supported. Absoft states that third party benchmarks again confirmed that Absoft Pro Fortran produces faster code on x64 based systems than other compilers. Absoft’sFx3 debugger, the industry’s only commercial graphical Fortran debugger for Mac OS X has added multi-threading support for debugging OpenMP applications on Mac OS X / Intel. The Pro Fortran graphical IDE included with v11.0 has added several new capabilities including: an OpenMP control feature, a customizable elements browser, improved cursor navigation, advanced syntax checking, automatic Fortran module dependency tracking, full TR15581 (ALLOCATABLE attributes) support, runtime environment variables, MPI application support and project-wide code completion. Also included is Absoft’s MRWE application framework, 2D/3D graphics and pre-built math libraries include reference LAPACK and BLAS, and pre-built ScaLAPACK and BLACS library for enhanced MPI performance. Pro Fortran is link and debug compatible with Apple’s C/C++ compiler which is supported as an IDE plug-in.

Absoft Fx3 Advances Graphical Debugging for Mac OS / Intel Fortran
Absoft teilt uns mit, daß der graphische Debugger Fx3 jetzt auch "stand alone" für Fortran Programmierer auf MacOS/Intel Systemen zu haben ist (er ist Bestandteil der Absoft Fortran Compiler für Windows, Linux und MacOS):

Absoft(R) Corporation today announced Fx3 stand-alone debugger, a more advanced debugging option for Fortran developers on Mac OS/Intel. Absoft’s Fx3 debugger provides a full graphical interface for Fortran developers on Mac OS/Intel machines. Previously available only as part of Absoft’s Pro Fortran suite, it can now be purchased as a stand-alone item and is compatible with Absoft Pro Fortran and Intel Fortran compilers, Apple C and gnu c compilers, and assembly language. Linux versions are also available. Prices start at $99.00.
Absoft says Fx3 is especially beneficial for the Mac OS/Intel community because Fx3 is the only graphical Fortran debugger from a commercial vendor currently available for Mac OS/Intel. The alternatives are either command line or designed for C/C++ with no knowledge of Fortran. Absoft research shows, customers who choose Macs often do so because of Apple’s excellent graphical user interface. They find graphical interfaces easier to use, more productive and want their programming tools for Mac OS to have a Mac GUI as well.
The Apple debugger included with Xcode has a graphical interface, but was designed for C/C++ and has no knowledge of Fortran. For example: customers using the Fx3 debugger with Fortran compilers from Absoft or Intel can graphically display and modify the values of program variables located in COMMON blocks, allocated in static storage, or declared inside Fortran 90 modules. Fx3’s rollover feature displays the value of variables. Similar functionality is not available using the Apple or open source gdb debugger on Fortran code.
“Absoft is making Fx3 available as a stand-alone product in response to continued customer demand,” said Wood Lotz, president of Absoft. “Mac is a very popular platform for Fortran development and many of those developers use multiple Fortran compilers. Fx3 is very well regarded and our customers regularly ask us to make it available as a stand-alone item because they want Fx3’s superior flexibility and graphical debugging capabilities for all their compilers,” continued Lotz.
Fx3 is compatible with both 32 and 64 bit executables on Mac OS / Intel based systems. Single user and floating licenses are available. Linux versions of Fx3 are compatible with Absoft Fortran, Intel Fortran, Pathscale Fortran, Apple C and gnu c.

Supercomputing 2004, Pittsburgh, PA (November 10, 2004) – Absoft Corporation has announced a new Cluster Builder’s Kit version 2.0 which replaces its Beowulf Tool Kit v1.0. The Cluster Builder’s Kit (CBK) is used in conjunction with Absoft high performance compilers and debugging solutions and is designed to facilitate building and setting up cluster systems. Customers who purchase Absoft compilers for clusters receive the CBK at no additional charge. The software products included with the Cluster Builder’s Kit CD are the leading open source software packages commonly used in today’s cluster configurations. Seit Mitte/Ende Oktober besteht auch die Möglichkeit des "Electronic Delivery" der Absoft Compiler (sind in unseren Preislisten mit "LICENCE ONLY" gekennzeichnet). Das Procedere ist recht einfach: Sie bestellen bei QT software eine neue Lizenz oder Update (per eMail, Fax, Brief). Im Falle eines Update geben Sie bitte Ihre aktuelle Seriennummer und Versionsnummer an. Sie erhalten dann von uns Instruktionen für den Download, d.h. wo und wie Sie die Software im Internet laden können eine neue Lizenznummer, die Sie zur Installation bzw. Freischaltung der Software verwenden. Die gesamte Dokumentation ist on-line (d.h. wie bisher als PDF verfügbar). Ihre Vorteile: Sie sparen die inzwischen exorbitanten Frachtkosten für den Import aus den U.S.A.. Die "Lieferung" findet innerhalb von 1-2 Werktagen statt. Einen Wermutstropfen gibt es noch: IMSL for Linux kann per Download nicht geliefert werden.
